1 · Relationship

You are an independent contractor, not an employee. You control when you accept work, the route you take and the manner of performance, subject only to the client's stated requirements and the law. You are responsible for your own taxes and will be issued a Form 1099. Nothing here creates a partnership, joint venture or employment relationship, and you may work for others including competitors.

2 · Compensation

Standard tasks, per hour on task$26.00–$32.00
Rush and after-hours, per hour on task$34.00–$42.00
Courier run within 10 miles, per completed run$22.00–$28.00
Scheduled route, per routeQuoted
Mileage reimbursement, per mile on task$0.58
Tips — passed through in full, never pooled or withheld100%
Payment runWeekly, Fridays

3 · Requirements

21 or over; valid driver's licence held three years or more with a clean motor vehicle record; a reliable, insured, presentable vehicle; a smartphone with data; a cleared criminal background check and two references. You will maintain your own vehicle insurance and notify us within 24 hours of any change to your licence status, insurance or record. You carry company identification on every task and present it on request.

4 · How you work

You accept or decline each task offered. Once accepted you complete it within the agreed window or tell dispatch immediately if you cannot. You document every task as briefed: photographs at the relevant points, timestamps, mileage, wait time and a signature where required. You never open a sealed consignment, never use your own money for client purchases, and never exceed an authorised spend limit. If a client asks for something outside the task, you call dispatch rather than agreeing on the spot.

5 · Scope limits — what you must refuse

Do not transport passengers. Do not buy, carry, serve or pour alcohol. Do not prepare or serve food. Do not provide hands-on personal care of any kind. Do not perform trade or repair work. Do not carry clinical specimens, patient records, firearms, hazardous waste, or cash above $500. Do not give legal, financial, tax, immigration or real estate advice. If a client presses, be polite, decline, and call dispatch. Refusing correctly is never held against you; agreeing to any of the above is grounds for immediate termination.

6 · Confidentiality and conduct

Everything you see in a client's home or business is confidential, including that they are a client. Do not photograph anything beyond what the task record requires. Do not post about a task on social media. Access codes and keys are released to you for one task and returned the same day against the custody log. This clause survives the end of this agreement by three years.

7 · Non-solicitation and term

For twelve months after your last task you will not directly solicit or accept private engagements from a client you served through Errandables. Either party may end this agreement at any time on written notice; work already accepted should be completed. Payment for completed work survives termination.

Draft for review. Contractor classification turns on the degree of control actually exercised, not on what this document says. Have a Virginia employment attorney review this and your real working practices together before issuing it.

Runner contractor agreement

Not client-facing, but the document the whole model rests on. It sets the pay bands, the vetting standard, and the list of things a runner must refuse on the doorstep.
